After last year’s record turnout, it is expected that over 2,600 brokers, leading insurers and key industry figures will descend upon the ExCel exhibition centre for BIBA 2013.
Hosted by TV political journalist, Nick Robinson, BIBA 2013 will play host to plenty of experts from the world of insurance and business, as well as the likes of Martin Wheatley, CEO designate of the Financial Conduct Authority, David Miliband MP, Olympic cycling star Sir Chris Hoy MBE and entrepreneur Hilary Devey.
Speaking about the theme of this year’s event,‘Meeting the Growth Challenge’, BIBA Chief Executive Eric Galbraith said the conference was about “enabling individuals and businesses to live and work in what is an increasingly risky world.”
“Throughout 2013, BIBA will continue to take the initiative in promoting the value of our sector and working towards more proportionate, appropriate and cost effective regulation,” he continued.
As one of the principal sponsors of BIBA 2013, Zurich will be welcoming brokers to discuss propositions and build relationships across commercial, personal and global corporate lines.
Meet our experts
As well as co-sponsoring the event, members of the Zurich team will be present at the stand to answer any questions or queries you may have. Zurich’s experts will also be available for one-to-one meetings if required.
With brokers facing so many threats in the industry, from over-zealous regulation to changes in consumer behavior, Zurich will be showcasing its latest propositions and demonstrating how they can support you and your customers to give you and your customers an advantage.
Zurich will also be launching the ever-popular BrokerMind, in association with Insurance Times. Now entering its second year, the competition aims to find the UK’s best mind in broking.
This year’s conference seminars include Nick Wheeler, Managing Director of Charles Tyrwhitt Shirts, discussing leadership and Alex Hunter, a brand consultant who will cover the future of online brand loyalty.
Zurich’s Richard Coleman, Director of SME, will be co-hosting a seminar titled ‘A radical shift: Risk & resilience in UK SMEs’, examining how brokers can navigate the uncertain waters of the UK’s volatile economy.
To further brokers’ understanding of the implications of these pressures for their customers, Zurich commissioned the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) to analyse the risk implications for SME businesses over the past five years.
This research includes looking at the key threats to continuity, the significant changes to SME risk management and the measures SMEs have undertaken to improve business resilience.
A seminar will also be dedicated to telematics and will look at the opportunities for brokers in behaviour-based motor insurance. Other seminar topics include professional indemnity, business models, culture and regulation.
