Zurich Insider looks at some of the most influential UK insurance brokers currently tweeting.

Despite a recent survey revealing that brokers primarily use Twitter for socialising and brand awareness, the social media network can be invaluable for those wishing to network and find potential clients.

According to a report from marketing firm HubSpot, 40% of businesses have found social media has increased the number of word-of-mouth referrals, with 35% gaining a customer solely via Twitter.

With that in mind, we looked all over Twitter for UK brokers that are informative and illuminating with their unique insight on the industry.


1. Philip Beckett: @Norwich_broker

He may be the ‘Norwich broker’, but as a Commercial Insurance Consultant for The Insurance Centre, Philip’s informative tweets are followed by brokers nationwide, eager for his insight on a wide range of insurance issues.



2. Jon Newall: @Insurance_jon

Owner of Lockyer Insurance, Jon can often be found discussing the latest developments in insurance as well as sporting matters. He also recently walked across the Sahara for charity.



3. Benjamin Mott: @Mottsinsurance

Based in Penarth and Partner at Motts Insurance Broker, Ben’s friendly tweets have earned him a loyal following, keen to get his take on all aspects of commercial and personal insurance thanks to his many years of providing coverage to the Cardiff area.



4. Tony Knight: @knightsure

Not just a self-described ‘business insurance professional’, but the Southampton-based Managing Director of Knightsure Insurance Brokers is also winner of Insurance Times’ 2013 BrokerMind competition. To say he knows his stuff is an understatement.



5. Chris Knight: @InsuranceKnight

A popular name on Twitter, Chris Knight is a CeRGI-qualified commercial insurance broker and General Manager of The Insurance Knight Consultancy. Chris is an expert on business and home insurance thanks to his 25 years in the industry.



6. Philippa Cutler: @PhilippaCutler

Known by some as the ‘Queen of Insurance’, Northampton-based Philippa is the Director of Pyke Smith & Cutler, and is famed for her passion about the insurance industry and her expertise in understanding the business needs of her customers.



7. Marcus Saunders: @MarcusSaunders

Marcus is a Bristol-based construction insurance broker who works as a Senior Account Executive for Lucas Fettes & Partners. His friendly tweets keep followers informed about waste recycling, renewable energy and the latest industry news.



8. David Wilson: @davidwilson165

Based in the North West and an Insurance Consultant at Neville Jones Insurance Brokers, David tweets about all aspects of commercial insurance, from haulage to business relocation.



9. Karen Thomas: @breatheinsure
