On 10th September, eight members of Zurich’s Retail Sales Team travelled the five hour journey to Snowdonia in preparation for their chosen fundraising challenge – climbing Mount Snowdon!

Members of the team were inspired by ‘wellbeing walks’ organised by Zurich’s charity arm, Zurich Community Trust, as part of Zurich’s ‘Wellbeing Week’ initiative in June. This involves encouraging employees to get involved in a variety of activities designed to benefit you physically, mentally, or both.

In keeping with the wellbeing theme, the team decided to put themselves to the ultimate test by climbing the highest mountain in all of Wales. Snowdon reaches heights of 1085 metres above sea level and is the busiest mountain in the UK, receiving a staggering 582,000 visitors each year.

Andy King, Retail Sales – Business Account Manager, led the team to the top and shares more about their experience below…

“After an overnight stay in bunk beds at a local Youth Hostel, we rose early for breakfast and headed off just before 10am into the wind and rain to begin the ascent.

Luckily not too far into the climb, the rain stopped and we were blessed to witness some truly incredible scenery that was nothing short of breath taking.

Climbing Snowdon was on a lot of the team’s “to do lists” and although it was challenging it was extremely rewarding, with the added bonus of knowing that we were also raising funds for the Zurich Community Trust.”

The team have raised an incredible £1,300 with gift aid, to help our charitable arm continue their fantastic work with our charity partners and programmes across the UK and overseas.
