A comprehensive guide to safeguarding

At a glance

  • Every organisation with potential safeguarding risk exposures must ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals is at the heart of their decision-making
  • This requires developing appropriate policies, procedures and training, and fostering an open, transparent safeguarding culture
  • Our whitepaper, Understanding Safeguarding, aims to help organisations navigate some of these key challenges

In recent years there have been a number of high-profile safeguarding failings.

As well as causing considerable harm to vulnerable individuals, such incidents can affect the morale of individuals working within the organisation concerned, and cause significant damage to its reputation.

Any organisation that works with vulnerable individuals has a duty to ensure their safety and well-being is at the heart of decision-making. Organisations must also ensure every member of staff understands the role they have to play in safeguarding.

We have produced a whitepaper, Understanding Safeguarding, that looks at a number of the most common safeguarding challenges organisations are likely to face.

It includes guidance on:

  • Key terminology and definitions
  • Emerging safeguarding risks
  • Training, policies and procedures
  • Defensible decision-making
  • Whistleblowing
